So it&#039;s a good idea to regularly add the proper metal-preventing chemical before problems arise. If you are unsure about what to add make sure your pool is tested for metals by a professional once a month. If you test your pool water and see that the metal level is 2ppm or above, it would be a good idea to add the appropriate chemical once or twice a week. A good rule of thumb is to use it interchangeably with the weekly shock.<br \/>\nThe chemical used in these cases, known as a flocculant, brings the metal into a precipitate state where it can be filtered out by the pool filter. This prevents the formation of stains on the pool walls. We operate the filter continuously for 24 h after adding the flocculant. This will also prevent white deposits from forming on pool surfaces and equipment.<br \/>\nStains and deposits, which are particularly noticeable on the white parts of the pool, must be identified from where they come from so that they can be corrected in the best way. Copper stains appear light blue or blue while iron stains appear tile or black. The presence of manganese is shown in black. The plaques appear stained gray or brown and are rough to the touch.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What causes black spots?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Metals found in pool water usually come from the corrosion or oxidation of its metal components or even from fertilizers. When the stains appear be sure to restore the pH and alkalinity to the required ranges. Then brush the stained areas vigorously. Add the appropriate chemical to expel the metal and operate the filter. Two days later shock the water. Then check the pH and alkalinity again. If you notice the presence of metals again, repeat the process.<br \/>\nIdentifying and removing metal stains is not an easy task.
