When asked if they would try it, most were quick to say no. Why; Because of the bodies, impurities and debris, floating around. What they don&#039;t know, of course, is that in the early 1900s almost 2 million residents used the floating baths and that today the +POOL company - a group of four friends - together with the Heineken company intend to revive them. They have already found a way to clean the water and the only thing missing is the new laws, which will allow bathing again.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"462\" class=\"wp-image-13862\" src=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image2-3.jpg\" alt=\"rivers\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image2-3.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image2-3-532x320.jpg 532w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image2-3-600x361.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At first the idea was very simple: Instead of trying to clean the entire river, maybe they could just clean a small part of it? This of course brought some second thoughts with one goal: what if we could change the way New Yorkers view their rivers, simply by giving them the opportunity to swim in them? And so began the effort to create a floating pool of large dimensions on the New York waterfront and its walls to be such as to filter the river water that would enter through them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1114\" class=\"wp-image-13863\" src=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image3-3.jpg\" alt=\"rivers\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image3-3.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image3-3-221x320.jpg 221w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image3-3-600x870.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>For the project, $40,000 was collected in just 7 days. With this funding, the first layer of filtration was tested in Brooklyn Bridge Park, in the summer of 2011. The research done was used to approach the city authorities, for the first time, about this idea, from whom the idea was received with excitement.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"530\" class=\"wp-image-13864\" src=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image4-2.jpg\" alt=\"rivers\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image4-2.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image4-2-464x320.jpg 464w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image4-2-600x414.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In 2013, $300,000 more were collected and a new way of filtering was tested in the Hudson River for six months in the summer of 2014. The effort involved naval architects, manufacturers, marine scientists and engineers. Together they managed to prove that the proposed technology is feasible and can filter river water without the use of chemicals.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"547\" class=\"wp-image-13865\" src=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image5-2.jpg\" alt=\"rivers\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image5-2.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image5-2-449x320.jpg 449w, https:\/\/pool-about.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/image5-2-600x427.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Today, six years later, the effort continues to make the dream come true. +POOL has now found a new great partner, Heineken.
