Pool maintenance<\/h2>\n

A hydrostatic pressure test can be performed to detect leaks. The most common damages that occur in swimming pools are cracks in the tiles, synthetic membranes or concrete (depending on the material of the walls). In the case of membranes, cracks are repaired by applying a piece of the material to the damaged area.<\/p>\n

In the case of tiles, the cracked ones are removed and new identical tiles are placed in its place with the help of mortar that hardens under water.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

In concrete pools with a special surface treatment, the cracks are opened, cleaned and repaired with a special repair mortar that hardens in water.<\/p>\n

The walls are usually cleaned with special detergents or with the help of special machines. Alternatively, simple cleaning of its interior can be done with common hard brushes used for floors.<\/p>\n

Soft brushes are suitable for polishing surfaces. Antifungal protection is equally important for pool maintenance.<\/p>\n

Every two weeks, a special anti-fungal product compatible with pool filters needs to be added to the water to prevent premature clogging. Clogged filters are another common pool malfunction. An indication of the blockage is the decrease in the supply of the pumps.<\/p>\n\"Pool\n

Regularly spraying the filters with special substances that bind colloidal pollutants can protect them from premature clogging. Sand filters in large pools should be serviced every six months. Cross section filters need cleaning every 6 to 8 weeks.<\/p>\n

What experts say about pool maintenance<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As long as the pool is in operation, the chemical balance<\/a> and ensure its hygiene. This means that the pH of the water is in the ideal range (7.2-7.6), there is always a disinfectant with a residual effect (slow dissolving chlorine\/bromine tablet etc.), algaecide is added every twenty days and the water is shocked with a corresponding product (e.g. chlorine, oxygen) every twenty days or whenever we see the water losing its crystal appearance.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

During the winter months we have two options. We cover the pool with the special winter cover and<\/p>\n

-whether we operate the pool but with a reduced program, i.e. fewer recirculation hours and a smaller amount of chemicals,<\/p>\n

-either we stop operation, lower the water level by 40cm to avoid overflowing the surrounding area during winter rains and replace the water next season.<\/p>\n

We do not leave the tank empty under any circumstances since the water protects the lining of the walls as well as the stability of the structure.

\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Water recirculation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The hygienic operation of the swimming pool is very important for its use. For this reason, the most correct way to recirculate the water must always be foreseen. This process can be done in two ways:<\/p>\n

1. with a skimmer: It is a mechanism located inside the pool. Through special nozzles it recycles the water of the surface layer of the pool.<\/p>\n

2. with perimeter overflow: It is achieved when there is an overflow channel around the perimeter of the pool, which is lined with a plastic grate. Water overflows from all sides of the pool into the grate and recirculates.<\/p>\n

Supply and renewal of pool water <\/u><\/em><\/h2>\n

The pool is filled by transporting water through an aqueduct, from the water supply network or with sea water. In the event that the pool is filled with seawater, the operation of the system does not change - however, it should be checked if the electromechanical equipment is of the specifications for use in seawater - that is, improved quality of stainless steel in the metal parts to withstand the corrosion that is usually caused.<\/p>\n\"Pool\n

The water that has been used to fill the pool must be recirculated (according to the current regulation for swimming pools \u03931\/443\/73 (Government Gazette 87 B)) every six hours for private pools and every four hours for commercial pools.<\/p>\n

Pool water replacement is recommended every three years. But even this period can be extended if after a chemical analysis of a sample of the pool water it is found that the water is in good condition. In any case, it is good to change 1\/3 of the pool water at the beginning of each swimming season for private ones and once a month for professional ones.
