Seductive Garden House
\nDesign: AGi architects<\/em><\/p>\n

Location: Messila, South East Kuwait City<\/p>\n

It all started with a question: Can you design? an outdoor space that can be used<\/a> 365 days a year? For moderate climates like Spain it seems simple enough, but in the case of an extreme weather like this of Kuwait<\/strong> was is necessary to think of new strategies.<\/a> So, the architects of AGi<\/strong> they asked the customer:<\/p>\n

Could you live in an outdoor space that is on different levels? Could you classify your outdoor activities into evening and daytime activities, summer and winter events? These questions can be very difficult to answer for a Mediterranean family, but certainly not for those who are used to living in adverse weather conditions and who easily know what summer can - and can't - do outdoors.<\/p>\n $\"\"$ \n

The architects of AGi they decided to lay out the external uses<\/strong> depending on the season of the year and the hours of the day when these activities could develop and designed three gardens accordingly. The first is a Wet Garden on the ground floor, which allows us to activate related spaces during the warmer periods.<\/p>\n

Seductive Garden House<\/h2>\n
The pool and some fountains<\/strong> they are in this garden, which is surrounded by the main social areas of the house. The Summer Garden is located in the coldest layer, 4 meters below street level. Shielded from the thermal mass of the ground and the projected shadows of the enclosure volume, a large sheet of water is placed to catalyze evapotranspiration which - by convection - lifts and invigorates the air to the upper spaces.<\/p>\n
The third is located on the roof, ideal place<\/strong> for winter days and warm summer nights. A perforated skin covers the Winter Garden, avoiding direct sunlight and increasing it privacy of its residents<\/strong>. These three gardens are unified as a single outdoor space and are connected - visually and physically - by external stairs.<\/p>\n $\"\"$ \n
Another important aspect to understand is the internal circulation of the residence, which is closely related to the concept of "family" assumed by the clients. From the main entrance, the separation of spaces<\/strong> and levels acts as a filter with visitors. Therefore, those who circulate through it are only those who are closest to the family (including service staff and house workers).<\/p>\n
The circulation inside the building - both vertical and horizontal - is captured in a fluid way, creating multiple routes and possibilities for the residents to reach the rooms in a more or less direct way. Routes can be internal<\/strong> or external, offering views and experiences of different quality.<\/p>\n
Opposite the closed volume to the outside - emphasized by the uniform stone cladding - is the absolute transparency of the spaces facing the inner courtyard<\/a> -covered with white ceramic tile-, which reflect the light and help to illuminate the rooms in a natural way.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
