Kollywood Residence in Hollywood. Collywood is a high-tech retreat in West Hollywood located just above the Sunset Strip and overlooking Los Angeles with stunning views that stretch<\/a> from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n

Maximizing access to these amazing<\/a> views from all parts of the house was a key design directive. Other design goals were to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors as much as possible \u2013 because the client comes from an outdoor adventure background, he wanted the home to feel like an adventure for him and his many guests.<\/p>\n $\"\"$ \n

Kollywood Residence in Hollywood<\/h2>\n
Many custom-designed and automated elements on all three levels contribute to the home's uniquely modern identity. On the main level of the home, which includes the kitchen, dining room and living room, a series of folding window walls fully open the home to outdoor wrap-around terraces.<\/p>\n
Sliding walls of windows in the living room, kitchen and north bedroom are complemented by a pair of sash windows in the dining room and two revolving walls of windows on the south side of the living room. Together, this important series of functional window walls merges indoor and outdoor spaces, expanding livable space outside in Southern California's temperate climate.<\/p>\n $\"\"$ \n
The main terrace off the dining room and living room leads to a swimming pool overlooking a grove of olive trees on the hillside below, with the Los Angeles city skyline stretching out in the distance. This connection to the outdoors continues on the upper level, which contains the master bedroom and a den, the gym<\/a> at home and a number of roof decks.<\/p>\n
The lower level reflects the client's personal interests and hobbies, including a car gallery, games room and media room. A large outdoor terrace extends from the car gallery, cantilevering over the hillside with unobstructed views of the cityscape.<\/p>\n
This 15,600 SF retreat in West Hollywood offers sweeping views of downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills. A central design concern was to maximize these views, as well as blur the boundaries between interior and exterior to create a home with a sophisticated, distinctive character.<\/p>\n

Designers' statements<\/h2>\n
The fully automated home features a series of functional window walls that fully open up the living spaces to the temperate Southern California climate.<\/p>\n $\"\"$ \n
\u201cThis home navigates many different scales: the larger landscape scale of Los Angeles, the scale of entertaining and large group gatherings, and the scale of intimate spaces for everyday living.
