What is Pseudomonas Aeruginosa?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

THE Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/strong> is a common microbe found in the environment and often found in swimming pools and spas. This microbe is resistant to high temperatures and antiseptics, and grows rapidly in nutrient-enriched waters.<\/p>\n

How is water contaminated?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The main source of contamination is tank users, with skin shedding being a major factor. Also, the transfer of the microbe from the surrounding area is common.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Effects of Ps. Aeruginosa in Health<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ps.Aeruginosa is usually not a threat to people with healthy immune systems, but it can cause problems in weakened organisms. Common illnesses include folliculitis, otitis externa, urinary and respiratory tract infections, and corneal infections.<\/p>\n

Infection Management and Prevention<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is more difficult to control the growth of Ps. aeruginosa in hot tubs rather than swimming pools as the design and operation of hot tubs can make it difficult to have adequate levels of residual disinfection in these facilities.<\/p>\n

The best way to control Ps<\/em><\/strong>. aeruginosa is preventing it from growing in the first place<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
