Swimming Lakes<\/em><\/h2>\nThe lake<\/a> it consists of two zones, the swimming zone and the revitalization zone, where aquatic plants grow. The two zones are separated by low walls, allowing water to move throughout the lake. The walls protect the swimming zone from the spreading of plants towards it and the falling of soil. These two surfaces (zones) must have at least an equal surface, while the result is optimized as the surface of the plant zone increases.<\/p>\n
The plants feed on dead swimmers' cells and algae, keeping the water clean and alive.<\/p>\n
The construction is insulated with an FPP membrane to prevent any leaks. The color of the membrane is green (olivegreen) on the one hand to "connect" with the environment, on the other hand to avoid the cleaning of the algae in high frequency - since the water is alive and a small amount of algae settles on the walls.<\/p>\n
Surface water flows through a curved grate skimmer into the plastic (PP) sump of the pump. The "filtered" water of the regeneration zone ends up in the same area.<\/p>\n
The water then enters the lake through "springs" or streams.<\/p>\n
All mechanical parts are placed below the deck without the need to build a concrete pumping station.<\/p>\n
Converting an existing pool into a swimming pool can be done in the following ways:<\/p>\n

The pool is divided in half and the two zones are created.<\/li>\n
The revitalization zone is created next to the pool or in a more remote area and the two elements are joined by underground piping or a surface stream.<\/li>\n
The pool is used for a regeneration zone and the swimming zone is created next to it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Maintenance<\/strong><\/h3>\nEvery six months or depending on the owner's requirements, the walls and bottom of the swimming area are cleaned of algae and maintenance<\/a> of the plants of the revitalization zone.<\/p>\n
At the bottom of the regeneration zone the lower layers of algae, which settle over time, can become anaerobic, resulting in the unpleasant smell.<\/p>\n
This phenomenon can appear after three, five or even more years after the start of operation of the lake.<\/p>\n
Then it is necessary to remove the water from the regeneration zone and remove the algae.<\/p>\n
Biotope\u00a0<\/strong>Pool<\/strong><\/h4>\n
Another way if the required space is not available, is to use the Biotop Pool philosophy.<\/p>\n
In this case, the resuscitation zone is not necessary.<\/p>\n
The water passes through the biofilter placed below the deck and then through the PhosTec Ultra to eliminate phosphates during water recirculation.<\/p>\n
In this way, a much smaller surface area is needed.<\/p>\n
For aesthetic reasons, special plants can be planted in the biofilter, or even better, a small zone of aquatic plants can be created next to the Biotop Pool.<\/p>\n
