Pool heating<\/h2>\n

THE water heating<\/a> of the pool actually extends by 2-3 months the swimming season which is usually from May to September in Greece. The swimming pool can be heated all year round, but because in winter the outside temperatures are very low, maintaining the desired temperature at 27-28\u00baC requires significantly greater amounts of energy.<\/p>\n

Heat losses<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The heat that the pool water has is lost to the environment in the following ways:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. From the pool walls to the surrounding area.<\/li>\n
  2. From the addition of fresh water to top up.<\/li>\n
  3. Heat loss to ambient air. The greater the temperature difference between the air and the pool water, the greater amounts of heat are lost from the pool water.<\/li>\n
  4. Heat loss due to evaporation. About 70% of the pool's heat is lost to evaporation.<\/li>\n
  5. Heat loss due to wind. The stronger the air currents are over the surface of the pool, the greater the evaporation and therefore the heat loss.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    From studies done, it has been established that the use of an isothermal cover can reduce heat loss due to evaporation and save energy (less consumption of electricity, oil, natural gas, etc.). The saving that can be achieved is about 50%. For this reason, when the pool water is heated, it is necessary to have an isothermal cover to reduce heat losses to the environment.<\/p>\n
