Special outdoor spaces and pools created in collaboration with architects and designers
Every project implemented by Vaselli-Spirito Pietra is based on natural rock and in concepts designed for a wide range of applications, such as interior furnishing items, swimming pools, fireplaces, floor and wall coverings, sculptures or diverse expressions abstract art.
Vaselli-Spirito Pietra is the ideal partner for architects, designers, sculptors and different types of direct customers. He meticulously selects the materials that suit each project, because he knows the secrets and inherent characteristics of the stone and can rely on deep expertise and the utmost attention to working processes in order to provide completely unique products.
This excellence is also seen in the pool and garden projects where the Vaselli team has worked together with architects and construction companies. A typical example is the circular swimming pool perfectly immersed in the Tuscan hills in the province of Arezzo.
Only a single space was available for the pool and this requirement required a specific shape that would perfectly integrate the pool into the natural environment and landscape.
Travertino Becagli – made in the Vaselli workshop in Rapolano Terme where the company is based – was used for the tiles, the steps built into the pool and the seating around the edge.
This type of travertine is native to the area and has been mined in the area's quarries since Etruscan times, and Vaselli prides itself on the expertise required to craft it to perfection thanks to craftsmanship skills passed down from generation to generation. For this specific project, special attention was paid to different types of surfaces for the inside of the pool as well as for the part outside the water.

"The exterior which included the seating and the paving at the entrance to the pool was hammered, or hammered, and then coated without putting putty into the travertine pores.
In this way the surface maintains a natural appearance, becomes slip-resistant and feels pleasant when in contact with the skin" – says Danilo Vaselli who runs the company together with his sister Cinzia and brother David – "All the sharp edges are rounded in a somewhat rough manner to enhance the contours of each 'concio' or block and emphasize the joints'.
The design of the pool
"Travertino Becagli - continues Danilo Vaselli - is not only weather resistant, and therefore suitable for outdoor use, but also provides unique color characteristics that make it different from all other types of travertine."
The veins, color variations and surface with pores and holes are the result of nature's effect on the stone over thousands of years, which Vaselli then enhances with extreme precision in its products and processes. "Our production is mainly focused on 'bespoke' products - concludes Vaselli - resulting from highly advanced processing methods combined with an extensive amount of manual finishing that only skilled craftsmen can achieve."
All the stone elements used for this project were curved according to the design in our workshop in Rapolano and then individually numbered. This process ensured precision cut pieces and consequently quick and trouble-free installation.
